Weitech electronic repellers:
Weitech electronic repellers are devices that repel numerous animals and insects using ultrasonic signals and/or high-intensity sounds.

These animals and insects can hear higher frequencies than humans can; these are ultrasonic. Combining changes in frequency and intensity, Weitech repellers drive numerous pest animals and insects away without injuring or killing them.

Initial results

Depending on the pests and the degree of infestation, initial results can be discernible after 3 to 15 days. Movements of rodents then diminish rapidly. The level of activity of insects may intensify as they have to leave the shelter before moving away. Only the eggs and larvae of the targeted insects are not affected by the ultrasonic signals. It is only afterwards that the insects will be forced to leave the area.

Positioning the device

The position of the device is crucial to ensure optimum effectiveness.
This must be investigated according to the area and the chosen target animal.
For rodents, for example, it is preferable to place the device near and adjacent to the place where they come to feed.

Recommendations for use

  • Ultrasonic signals cannot pass through obstacles.
  • Do not place an emitter behind furniture or curtains.
  • Ultrasonic signals are reflected by smooth surfaces: they cannot pass through walls or floors
  • Ultrasonic signals are absorbed by soft or porous surfaces: rugs, carpets, etc.

IMPORTANT:

AN EFFECTIVE ULTRASONIC SIGNAL MUST BE:

  • At the right frequency (Hz) to disturb the targeted pest.
  • Intense enough (in dB) to disrupt their habits and their feeding and to make them change their territory.
Weitech devices have all been examined in laboratory conditions.

How do ultrasonic signals work?

An ultrasonic signal is a sound, i.e. a mechanical and elastic wave propagated by gases, liquids, soft tissues (flesh, organs) or hard materials (metal components such as sonotrodes), with a frequency exceeding 20,000 Hz.
They are called ultrasonic because their frequency is too high to be detected by the human ear (the pitch is too high), in the same way as infrasonic signals refer to sounds with a frequency to low to be detected by the human ear.

Lazzaro Spallanzani in 1794 was the first to suspect that ultrasounds exist. They were discovered in 1883 by the English physiologist Francis Galton.

Numerous animals, such as rodents or bats, can hear the sounds. Some of these animals can emit them: bats perceive their environment by emitting ultrasonic signals which are reflected by surrounding objects.

Ultrasonic signals have a variety of applications:

  • in medicine, particularly ultrasound scanning and heat therapy using focused ultrasonic signals;
    in laboratory work (biology, chemistry, etc.): e.g. sonication is the use of ultrasonic signals to break down cell membranes or to clean or disinfect equipment using a sonicator;
  • in agriculture, applying vibration (nebulization) to water which turns into an aerosol and supplies the root system with water and oxygen;
  • in remote detection using sonar;
  • in telemetry for measuring distances;
  • in industry, e.g. for non-destructive tests on materials, for cutting or welding thermoplastics (non-woven material; ribbon, webbing, polyethylene and polypropylene), welding non-ferrous metals (e.g. copper/aluminium) and ultrasound cleaning (one of the first industrial applications); in the agri-food industry for cutting cheese, paste, meat, fish and cakes at high speed and without losses;
  • in some leisure activities, e.g. to create water mist;
  • to repel animal pests such as rodents or some insects without toxic chemical products.
  • in telephony, such as silent ringtones, also referred to as “ultrasound ringtones”, “ultrasonic ringtones”, age-proof ringtones” or “adult-proof ringtones”, as adults over the age of about 25 years can no longer hear high-frequency sounds. These are sometimes called “teen buzz” or “mosquito ringtones”, with reference to mosquitoes; however, in this case it refers to a marketing name.
By definition, real ultrasonic signals cannot be heard by any human being if there is no conversion system.
  • in the automotive industry to avoid obstacles;
  • in hairdressing for hair extension implants;
  • ultrasound flow rate calculation (using transit time or the Doppler effect);
